Freelance Feature and lifestyle Journalist
For those of you I haven’t met, I’m Maisie, a freelance journalist with focus on writing regional news stories that resonate with the everyday lives of people in local communities.
I believe that the most meaningful journalism often comes from covering the issues, challenges, and triumphs that directly affect individuals and families daily. By focusing on local events, policies, and social dynamics, I highlight stories that aren't just headlines, but real narratives that shape the lives of the people around us.
My work has appeared in publications such as The Geelong Advertiser.
I’m currently studying for my Bachelor of Communications majoring in Journalism and Indigenous Studies with Deakin Uni, graduating in the class of 2026.
Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the feature and have found my home sharing the stories that enrich our communities, inspire our humanity, and garnish our lives with that little extra pinch of something.
I have a strong connection to regional Victoria and a real understanding of what matters to our boots on the ground people living outside of our bigger cities. I’m passionate about telling stories that reflect the strength of our regional communities, and I take pride in giving a voice to people and places that don’t always get the spotlight. Whether it's through news, features or local profiles, I aim to write with honesty, heart, and a genuine respect for the communities I cover.
